ARP-2188 is the human astrocytoma U87MG cell line commonly used for transfection and expression of exogenous genes. It was derived from a malignant gliomablastoma isolated from a 44-year-old adult. ARP-2188 was the parental cell line used to generate U87MG was used to develop the CD4+ cell line U87 CD4 Clone 2, available as ARP-2187.
ARP-2188 is also referred to as U87, U87-MG.
Growth Characteristics: ARP-2187 has an epithelial-like morphology.
Growth Media: Minimal Essential Medium (MEM) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum or 10% fetal calf serum
ARP-2188 is negative for Mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi.
Each vial of ARP-2188 contains
approximately 6.4 × 106 cells in MEM supplemented with 50% fetal bovine serum and 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Please refer to the
appropriate data sheet for lot-specific information.
