ARP-154 (also referred to as HeLa T4+) is a human cervical
epithelial carcinoma cell line rendered CD4 positive by
retrovirus-mediated gene transfer.
ARP-154 is susceptible to human immunodeficiency
virus 1 (HIV-1) infection and exhibits syncytia formation. HeLa (ARP-153) and
HeLa CD8+ (ARP-155) do not support HIV infection.
Growth Characteristics: Cells grow in
suspension. Split cells 1:10 every three days. It may take a week before the
cell viability increases above 50%
Propagation Medium: DMEM medium supplemented
with 10% newborn calf serum and 500 µg per mL G418
ARP-154 is negative for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi.
Each vial of ARP-154 contains approximately 6.7 x 106 cells in DMEM medium
supplemented with 10% newborn calf serum and 5% glycerol.
