This human T lymphoblastoid cell line (originally called CEM-T4) is a naturally isolated subclone of the CEM line
with high levels of surface CD4 expression.
Growth Characteristics: Cells are grown
in suspension with a lymphoblast-like morphology. An inoculum of 105 cells per mL will
increase four to five fold in 4 to 5 days when incubated at 37°C, providing pH
is maintained at 7.0 and fresh medium is added every other day. Maintenance of
the cell population at 106 cells per mL is optimal for growth.
Propagation Medium: Minimal Essential Medium (MEM)
supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum and without antibiotics
ARP-117 is negative for mycoplasma, bacteria and fungi.
Each vial of ARP-117 contains approximately 3.8 x 106 cells in Minimal
Essential Medium (MEM) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum and 10% dimethyl
